So, did anyone watch this show last night? I can't remember the name of the guy who does it, but it's on TLC and the name of the show is "I can make you thin". He is supposed to add new stragedies every week and it's NOT a diet. Last night he revealed the four golden rules to weight loss. Not sure how I'm feeling about this show. I do disagree with rule #2 quite a bit. If you missed the show, the four rules are:
1. Eat when you are hungry 2. Eat anything you want 3. Eat conciously (turn off the TV, no music, put your knife and fork down between each bite and pay attention to the food) 4. When you are full, STOP EATING. So, it's all common sense, right? I just don't love #2. I mean, in this theory, I would eat ice cream for breakfast, a snickers bar for lunch, potato chips for dinner, and a gyro for a snack. As long as I only eat it when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full, right? Hmmm. Not sure about all that. Personally I think the show focuses too much on size and not enough on health. I mean, don't we all know those pencil thin people who are unhealthier than the overweight person? What does anyone else think about this show? |

I stopped following the "weight loss" tv specials when the first time I turned one on I learned that to build tricep definition, you should use a rope... But if you are after STRENGTH, then break out the metal v-grip.
I was so disgusted that is the kinda crap that could pass as fact for all the people watching that I started eating a gallon of ice cream (but it's OK because I stopped when I was full and didn't start again until I got hungry). -------------- SQUAT MORE ~Jesse Marunde Blood Guts Sweat Chalk |

lol. The rope vs. metal v-grip thing is hilarious. I can't help but watch this show! It's like a train wreck. lol.
I saw an ad for the next show and the guy has everyone in the audience tapping their cheek with their fingers. Not sure what that's about, but I'm dying to find out! I don't know, maybe they are tapping their cheeks repeating "If I eat this I will get chubby cheeks, chubby cheeks, chubby cheeks". |

Steve.. you might want to watch that emotional eating of yours before it gets out of control lol.
I saw the ads for the show, and it looked interesting, but I didn't get a chance to watch it. I'll definitely have to tune in for this next show to find out about the cheek thing though! Maybe it's used as a cardio method to break up the fat cells inside the cheeks, you know, like those massager things for your glutes that they had in the 80s haha. |

Haha...what a stupid quote, we all know that kickbacks are the only way to build tricep definition. Haha, rope.

Oh, and one question. When you say "eat" whatever you want...what does the guy have to say about beverages? Can I only drink beer when I'm thirsty?

Only 5-8? I heard you should be drinking at least 8 glasses a day.. even up to 2 liters if you're physically active!

Can someone tell me what a kickback is and are you using the rope? I also was told by one of the guys at the gym that I should just use the bar and perform the tricep pull downs. ! set as high as I could do and then 2 set 20lbs lighter until exhaustion. then repeat. Was that wrong advice from him? ============ Quoting from ecle5c: Haha...what a stupid quote, we all know that kickbacks are the only way to build tricep definition. Haha, rope. ============= |

I do that sometimes mom. I mix it all up though. Sometimes I do tricep pull downs, sometimes I do standing kickbacks (stand with one knee on the bench, bent over and kick your arm out behind you in a controlled manner). Sometimes I do tricep bench thingys (this is my official term for them). Laying on the bench, bar over head, then lower down behind head. If you feel it in your triceps you are doing it right. lol Maybe I'm wrong though!

best fitness test is a physical one.
