I am a beginner and I am having a difficult time trying to decide if the weight that I using is enough or not. Another thing if it is enough then how do I know when to increase or if it is to much. Thanks!

YOU SHOULD START OUT AT A WEIGHT THAT YOU CAN FEEL RESISTANCE AND SHOULD STAY WITH THAT UNTIL IT GETS EASIER. INCREASE YOUR WEIGHTS 10 LBS. AT A TIME. I TRY TO INCREASE THE WEIGHT FOR EACH SET. YOU MAY FALL SHORT OF THE REPS BUT YOU WILL HAVE INCREASED THE WEIGHT TO MAKE YOU STRONGER. REMEMBER, LOTS OF REPS AND LOW WEIGHT WILL TONE. FEWER REPS WITH MORE WEIGHT WILL BUILD MORE MASS. WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS? TRAIN HARD!!

I am trying to loose fat actually. I am doing a lot of cardio at the present time and decided to add in a good fitness routine. I am very heavy right now and have been all my life...I am 24 and have 2 kids and have decided I do not want to live the rest of my life like this...this time it is for the long haul. Thanks for the help!

Stick with the cardio for now and use low weights and higher reps. I'm glad you are making the commitment!! Stay with FT and ask for help if you need it. Train hard and you will be amazed at the results. Keep us posted on your progress!!

ideally, you should be able to do 12-15 reps for an exercise after the warm-up set OR as prescibed by FT depending on your goal. If you feel you can do more than that ( a lot more) then increase the weight slightly until you reach a typical load which isn't too low or high similarly.

Thanks for the input it has helped greatly! Now atleast I know that I am doing the right amount instead of doing it blind!!
