Alright, firstly, I'm just gonna give you a quick background.

I directly support, work with, and even occassionally go out with the shooters, and let me start by saying if you want to go SF, then more power to you. It's a great deal, but it's going to be hard. Preparing yourself physically is one thing, but the mental part is always the hardest.

That being said, if you're looking for some good strength gains starting off from scratch, the programs on this site are wonderful. I just got done looking over most of them, and I can tell you you're gonna wanna go with the progressive. The main goal in the military is FUNCTIONAL fitness (i.e. no Ronnie Colemans or Jane Fondas). To that end, once you make it through some of these programs, you're going to want to also start looking at CrossFit and Gym Jones. These are very intense workouts to supplement lifting or replace it (whichever you want to do). All of my recon buddies and many of the SF guys I've met all do one or the other (we post the CrossFit Workout of the Day here in country). Now, am I saying that you should ditch this site and hook up with them? No. Gleam as much as you can from both sources. You're also going to want to swim and run at least 3 or 4 times a week. Why? Because being good at one does NOT make you good at the other. Both will condition your body. Also, don't expect huge mass gains on these programs right off the bat. You're hitting strength, cardio, endurance, and flexibility all at the same time.

Good luck with your endeavors, and I hope you're ready to get busy!

Paul, I've been in the infantry for 20 yrs. All I can suggest is be it Infantry, Marines, SF, Snipers etc train like an athlete...........I do high rep compound moves with little rest......run, bike, roller blade, hike. plyometric

The best thing that will keep you injury free that most soldiers forget is balance, agility, endurnace and most of all stretching.
