Hi all,
I was doing a search on different diets and came across the EAS body for life program, I know Bill Phillips is an icon in the industry with his company, competitions and all but I wanted to get your take on it. What do you guy's/girl's think of the 40% protein 40% carbs and 20% fat plan? Will it be as effective as a 50/30/20 or 50/25/25 plan? I'm thinking it would take longer to loose body fat or am I wrong as usual? It looks like this plan would be easier for me to follow. I have been cycling between the 50/30/20 and 50/25/25 plan weekly to keep my body guessing. Now I'm thinking about adding the 40/40/20 plan to really keep the body guessing. I'm currently 14-16% bf (depends on what method I use to check) and looking to get down to maybe 10-11%.
I was really heavy last year (246 lb approx 28% bf) and lost a lot of weight (currently 190-195 lb.) but I think it was mostly muscle. After finding this site and following all the advice here I have made substantial gains in muscle mass while loosing bf (THANKS EVERYONE!). I want to make sure I'm not going to lose ground but curious at the same time. Any suggestions? Recommendations? Think I should try it? Or... stay far, far away from it?

Try it, everyone's body is a little different and will respond to different ratios, some people have great success on 40/40/20, it is good ratio because you are getting plenty of protein and enough carbs to have really productive workouts (it is usually where I start clients).

Will this help my results? I do the 50/30/20 for a week then do the 50/25/25 for a week and cycle them. Now I'm going to add the 40/40/20 into the loop. I just want to keep the body guessing, or am I wasting my time cycling? Should I just stay with one ratio?

I think you're probably overthinking it here. If you're switching it up I would at least do it on a weekly basis if not monthly.

I really don't think it's necessary to cycle every week. Like ecle5c said, try every month instead. Also, you don't necessarily have to switch ratios to trick your body. Instead of eating 6 small meals a day, eat 3 regular sized ones. That will work just the same way. Make sure to also switch exercise plans. Your diet isn't the only thing that needs to be altered.

OK, thanks!
I do switch up my exercise plan and I do have a habit of over thinking. I'm going to try the 40/40/20 for a few weeks and watch my body fat, if I see it creeping up I'll go back to the 50/30/20 and stick with that.
