Hello,
I'm 13, and am trying to tone up my body. However, I do not have access to a gym and I don't yet have weights. On the profile, I selected the 5 day training, because I have lots of spare time, beginner and so on. On the next page, I wanted to select 'Toning and Weight Loss', but lack of equipment made sure I only did Home excercise and abs workout. Now... I go onto my page.. What the??? Theres only 3 workout days, and 2 on the abs, but 1 of the abs mixed with the standard excercise. Should I buy weights and change to what suits me? Or what? Thanks, Faustie |

you don't really need weights to tone up, and you also can add to the workouts that they give you-------------- -Dustin Never let todays disappointments over shadow tomorrows Dreams |

at 13 you really shouldn't be lifting much. you can mess up the growth plates in your bones if you start doing too much weight. I'd suggest adding cardio about 3 days a week. every other cardio day do interval sprints. otherwise you could just join a sport at school, then you'd tone up and make some new friends too

dockside guy - that is pretty outdated thinking. Teens can lift weights, true they don't need to be doing max lifts, but there isn't as much damage done as once thought.
Fuastino - do calesthenic exercises and play outdoor sports that you like and you should feel stronger, fitter and more toned. Also rememebr that you need to eat a healthy lifestyle diet to look fit. |

Cheers, asimmer.
For sports, I do tennis a bit, basketball a bit, a little bit of football, but nearly every day I do concentrated swimming and table tennis, so I think its mainly flab loss, and I'm working on a diet. I think that I'll leave weights for now, the home exercises are quite enough for a start, and I don't have the time to join a gym (What with my music and everything). Also... calesthenic? Haven't heard that word before. |

Oh yes.. One more thing. When I input my data, for example, pushups, or crunches... Do I put in my bodyweight on "Weight used". Because I don't use extra weights when I'm doing pushups.

calisthenics are excercises like push ups, sit ups, pull ups, prisoner squats, squat jumps all that kind of fun stuff

Table tennis counts as a sport now?

As for the routine, just because you CAN workout 5 days a week doesn't mean you necessarily SHOULD. -------------- SQUAT MORE ~Jesse Marunde Blood Guts Sweat Chalk |

Sorry, highschool weight training teacher told us that so I figured it was correct. I found a good site that explains how the myth came about if anyone's interested. http://bodybuilding.about.com/od/bodybuildingfaq/f/stuntgrowth.htm
