I am new to this site and looking for input. I have been working toward my weight loss for a good month now. Over view: Ride 10 miles a day on my bike, 50 min, rotate abs and arms every other day. Watch every single calorie I consume. I eat higher lean protien than carbs (body feels better) My question is, I do my cardio (biking) in the early afternoon, will I get better results if I switch to my bike ride in the morning? I am looking for results visually to keep me positive and motivated. -------------- Jenn |

No you will not, unless you push yourself harder in the morning than you do in the afternoon. You say you work out your arms and abs, what about the rest of your body? Have you looked into a program on here? You need to work all of your muscles. Good luck and welcome to FT.

I am not a professional but I know that when I exercise in the morning I have more energy through out the day, and I believe someone told me that if you do cardio/workout in the am it kick starts your metabolism for the day...hence you start burning calories faster. A profession should probably confirm that though. :):):)-------------- Nikki xoxo I Choose the Battles in My War. ?Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won?t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It?s not just in some of us; it?s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.? ~Nelson Mandela |

That's true. Do your cardio in the morning 30-45mins in the morning before breakfast, followed by your daily workout. This helps kickstart your metabolism. Once you do that have yourself a nice breakfast and pair it up with a protein shake. This helps build your muscle mass, keep track of your caloric intake as you have already been doing and you'll be good. If you haven't already started an excercise program on here I highly suggest you start one. Don't over do yourself, keep in mind that excecise alone will not help you loose weight or shape and tone your body. You also need a good diet (something that is both appealing to your sight and taste). Chances are that if you're eating healthy stuff that you don't really enjoy it's going to make you not want to keep going.
If you need to talk to someone who will be there for support you can always message me :) I know exactly what you're going through. I know at first its a struggle but good always prevails. Remember if its not hard then its not worth doing. Because we've taken the easy way before, we find ourselves here now struggling to not only look but feel better about ourselves. It trully is amazing what losing 5 pounds can do for your confidence level. --Tania C. |

In my opinion you need to get a strength training routine that allows for every muscle group to be worked at least once a week. Maybe splitting it up in groups of two to three muscle groups per workout session. Strength training should never be underestimated, and typically ends up burning almost as many calories as cardio(subsequent calories are spent to rebuild the muscle tissues during recovery).
As far as cardio in the morning vs night goes, it's totally up to you, as neither has been proven to be more effective than the other. It's just up to your preference. I think you should try alternating days of cardio and strength training. You might be pushing too hard right now by doing that intense cardio every day. If you are burning too many calories during the day, this could be inhibiting your weight loss. |

my personal trainer (who is also my ex..so...I don't know if he's trying to ruin me or help me...lmao..but I THINK he's right) says that intense cardio is best in the afternoon. A light jog is best in the morning.

Unless you're a high level athlete, the best time to train is the time when you are most likely to be consistent. This is normally the time that fits into your schedule the best and the time that you feel most comfortable at.-------------- SQUAT MORE ~Jesse Marunde Blood Guts Sweat Chalk |
