Hi!

I started my programme this week to focus my workouts (which have so far been ok - but vague!)

After doing a Legs-Calves day, I am in PAIN!! I would expect some soreness from starting a new routine, and wouldn't normally worry - but this time my calves REALLY hurt.. and its been a couple of days now. I didn't feel that I had 'overdone' the exercises or weights, didn't 'hurt' myself doing the work....

Do you reckon I have just really worked the muscles (which aren't used to it I must admit!) or is it worse??!!

Aarrrgggh......

Aaahhhh, welcome to the wonderful world of bodybuilding! Don't worry, that "beginners'" pain is normal. Sometimes, your body never really habituates to it and it hurts every time; my glutes always hurt the next day or two after I do deadlifts. Yes, the kind of pain where it actually hurts to sit! Just keep stretching and drink A LOT of water. Take it easy on yourself for the first couple weeks. Then, slowly increase the weight you do during your workouts. Good luck!

Hi there,

Thanks for the pointers and advice.

Having rested my aching joints for a few days now, and just doing lots of gentle stretching the pain has gone!!

I will take it easy for the time being, but thanks again for the help!!
