Sorry with all the questions. I am follwing the free weighlifting program and the amount of reps is more than I have ever done. It says 20,16,15,14. 20??? To hit my 20 i feel that I need to decrease the weight. I also heard that when you do so many reps like this its more cardio and endurance.

20 is a warm up set not a working set. Also the workouts are set up like this for a "break in" period...so that you do not over do it.

If you feel that in order to do 20 reps you need to lower the weight then do it. Bring it down to where you can do no more than 21 or 22. YOU DON"T WANT TO INJURE YOURSELF. You should always do between 30- 45mins of cardio just to help keep the blood flowing. Don' worrie about the endurance training, not at this point anyway. Focus on the amount of weight you can sustain for now and on your reps. Follow the guidelines on your excercise profile. Safety first above all. Remember that you can swap excercises at any time if you are not feeling comfortable with it.

warm up is what it says a warm up for that muscle group. I am 37 and on the very first exercise of each workout (take chest for an example) I will do anywhere from 1-3 sets of light weight on bench press then do my workout. By light I mean Light I usally start with just a barbell for 10-20 reps, then go to 95 for 10-15 then 135x10 etc. You really do not need to do more than that. If you would ike 5 mins of mod walking etc is ok as well. I perfer to do the exercise I am going to do as a warmup I find that works better for me.
