This, as I said, is my first post. I am a 36 year old 6'6" male, who weighs in around 325. Not at my heaviest which was 355, feel like it though, sometimes. Gotten lazy over the last few months and haven't been eating well or working out much.
I go in spurts on my eating and fitness, where I go all gangbusters and do everything for awhile. Then do little or nothing.
I am looking to get down to 275 as my end goal at this point. I have had doctors that said I need to be 225 to be healthy, personally I think they are nuts. I have a pretty big frame, under 275 is probably an option but thats my initial medium-long term goal.
Also, I am looking to get fit and in shape. I got to where I was doing an hour on the eleptical machines in the past and want to get there again. I also need to regain some muscle tone.
In the past I told myself when I got to 300lbs I was going to reward myself by taking a martial arts class. Now I am convinced I held that out there as an excuse not to do it. So I am now looking for an affordable place in Wichita to start training.
Tonight after work, I will be writing my self out a goal statement.
Hopefully you will be seeing a lot of posts from me on theses boards.

Just a thought, but have you put much thought into what causes you to quit working out/eating right? I think if you could figure that out then you could make some serious progress.
For example, I get burned out doing the same workout more than 3 weeks. I almost always slack off at the 4th week. So for me I have to switch up routines every 3 weeks to keep myself interested.
The same with food, I get bored of chicken, eggs, oatmeal, etc. Again I go in spurts, fish sometimes, more veggies at times, more fats/nuts, beef, chicken...etc.

ecle5c,
I know a couple of times its been watching the scale to much, first or second bad day and I have said Damn it all. I know i shouldn't, but still I do. That's probably the most consistent failure.
