Just wanted to let you folks know, I found an interesting study just out. A group of people with high cholesterol(LDL levels were up, the bad cholesterol) were involved in this study.
They were divided into 3 groups:
1. a strict lowfat diet,
2. a healthy diet with one serving of pistachio's per day,
3. the same diet but with 2 servings of pistachio's.
Turns out the lowfat diet did nothing for LDL levels(imagine that), the second diet actually lowered LDL by 6% I believe it was, in 30 days, and the third lowered LDL by 9-12%!
As many of you know, I have been against the lowfat diet forever, in favor of good fats. Nice to see another study bearing me out.
Pretty fascinating stuff. Pistachio lovers, forget the lowfat diet nonsense, and don't be afraid to indulge as your calorie limits allow.
