i'm going to be doing a lot of labouring in my new job involving a wheel barrow i'm just wondering what muscles you would be using to move it around as i've struggled with heavy things in a wheel barrow before.
and what kind of exercises would help me with it?

Definitely uses your core (abs and low back) to stabilize it, lifting is a mix between a deadlift and a shrug maybe, walking with it is sort of like a lunge.

I can tell you from moving stone and gravel for my patio this summer - wheelbarrow work is a lot like deadlifts, with more stabilization required. you will pretty much work every muscle in your body if the wheelbarrow is full, lol.
