hi all,
i am new here. i am a 26 year old mom wanting to lose the last 10 pounds of baby weight from last year.
i am:
5'7
157 lbs
muscular body-build
formerly very athletic
i cant do a lot of heavy exercise because of a lung injury, but i walk 40 minutes every day and am on the intermediate freetrainers weight loss 8 week program.
how many calories do i need to eat?? i am using fitday which is great but i dont know how many calories to shoot for. google gives me a bunch of different answers.

You take your body weight and multiply by 15 (calories per lb).
In your case 2355 calories per day, is the amount you would need to maintain your present weight.
Lower the number to 14, it brings you to 2198 calories per day. Try this for a 2 week period and adjust if you need to. NEVER go below 12 as this will be of no benefit, and only make you feel lousy.

that number seems high...my doctor said to shoot for 1800...i have a hard time with that number but i really want to lose weight. where did you get your formula?

That is just below 12 per pound. This number is a rule of thumb devised by ISSA (International Sports Science association). There are more details available on how to get to that formula. If you are under a doctors care follow his advice.
