hi all,
i'm jazzed about this site too. was just looking for an exercise routine that i could do at home, since i can't afford a gym membership. Love the BASIC exercises that i can try. I already feel like i can handle them.
I am female, 44, 5'2", 180- something (blech) lbs. 2 kids and 19 yrs married. I looked in the mirror today and just cried! if I gain any more weight I will officially take over as the Michelin Man.
I used to eat whatever I wanted and NEVER worried, cause it just didnt stick, now, however, if I just look at food it manages to stick to my middle.
so, looking forward to exercising, moving my body, i dont want to just see me lose weight, i want to see me breathe and sweat and feel more energized.:)

Thanks. I know motivation is the hardest part to maintain. i see that you lost over 60 lbs. how long did that take you? and also, did you intend to be a body builder from the start or did that just happen?
Oh, also, (sorry to bug ya) what do you recommend to build upper body strength? i have two floppy appendages that hang from my sholders, they may be good for opening cookie jars, but thats about it.

You'll get the most benefit from working all of the muscle groups of your body instead of just the upper body ones. Stick to what are called compound movements(exercises that involve multiple muscles) for now. Rows, pull ups, shoulder press, chest press, squats, lunges, or leg presses.
