The GYM where I workout has no machine for calves raises. Is there an alternate exercise which I can put in my schedule.

You don't need a machine. Do standing calf raises instead. Simply grab the Olympic bar, throw some weight on it, and step on a block of wood: Hold the bar as if you were doing shrugs (arms in front of you, shoulder-width apart, bar at your waist). Step your toes on a block of wood (or plates) that you placed on the floor. Be sure you can touch your heels to the floor while your toes remain on the block. This gives you a great stretch and allows you to work through the full range of motion. Be sure not to have the block (or plates) too high you you will easily lose your balance and risk injury. By the same token, do not have the block too low or you will not be using your full range of motion.

I hope the above description isn't too confusing. I normally don't have a way with words. Good luck!

u can do them using the smith machine which is probably easier. Standing dumbell calf raises are also as effective.

Try the calve raises, I would imagine the muscle growth would help. Try not to get to caught up in what others think, we ALL have parts of us we would rather exchange, even those that are rude and ridicule us do - sometimes I think they have greater problems and that is why they take time to humiliate us. Hang in there, fill in your profile and check out the exercise area for some great workouts and do a search on calves below on fitBuddy search and I'm sure you'll get plenty of ideas! Good to have you here, welcome to FT!
