I usually walk a lap to warm up then walk a lap to cool down.. that pretty much does it for me everytime.. if its a warmup run or a cardio run...

When you do a very hard work out (like heavy squats or HIIT) all your energy runs to the muscles who are working. Well if you stop fast then you'll feel dizzy and you might fall.
Simply to avoid this (and any accident) then slow down for a minute or two, start with the breathing and calm down your movements, stretch a little. That's it. Now go and take a shower!!!

Try and do a few minutes for a cool down. Walking is great and after you cool down, make sure you stretch. This will keep your muscles from getting tight as well. And yes, it is very important to cool down.
