I don't feel that I'm doing the "chin between chairs" exercise right. I feel to low to the ground and I don't feel like I'm getting anything out of it. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong or suggest a different exercise I can replace it with that will give me the same results.

I haven't done this exercise myself but have seen it done. Can you do some rows?

Would bent over barbell rows do okay?

I think you should try to do seated rows if possible. Also one thing is if you can find a way to raise the bar. If the chair has a sturdy back, maybe stack something on it to get you further from the ground. Just be careful with the structural integrity of whatever you stack.
