Hello everyone. I have been working out all week with my new workout schedule. I love it. However, I cannot get myself to eat like I should. I don't eat alot. Just a snack here and there. Can anyone shed some light into what a person should do if they don't like alot of food items. I did get me a smoothie maker and some protein powder. Need help with the nutritional aspect of this. I don't like to eat, but remain fat at 53. I am 5ft 3in and weigh in at 160Ibs. I quit smoking about 7 months ago and put on 20Ibs. So I thought I would start exercising, work out are great. Food not so great. HELP:(
Diet is the toughest aspect of fitness to conquer, but the most necessary for success. There were a lot of healthy things that I had to acclimate myself to by force. Over a time I began to accept and even like healthier choices.
So here's the deal:
Breakfast. YES. Not an option. Eat breakfast.
Count calories. Nobody like to, but you have to until you get a grip on proper diet. You'd probably do well with eating 1600-1800 a day right now with the exercise you are doing.
Reduce your carbohydrate intake, and up your protein. This means centering meals around a good protein source like fish,or chicken, or turkey breast. The carbs should be a side or an afterthought. Don't cut carbs completely, just reduce them to around 30% of your over-all calorie intake.
Take a peek in the nutrition forums for more specific advice on what types of food to be eating. There's a grocery list that's really helpful.
