I am starting an intense diet today, I will be on this for 30 days. I fit into a size 14 right now. In 30 days I hope to fit into a size 10, but will settle for 12. I would like to lose at least 20 pounds. My diet is going to drastically change. Water - 8 servings a day (from zero and drinking soda daily). No more junk food! Exercising on a daily basis. The first step is to get to the gym today and weigh myself. I am kind of scared to weigh-in, but I know it needs to be done so I can track my progress. Any advice would be appreciated! I think my family doesn't believe that I am really going to diet, as I have been saying I am going to diet since New Years. This time I am serious and feel like I have the motivation. Coming to the site for support from people who know what it's like to diet.

Motivation is key, however with things i have read, i dont think 20 will happen in the first 30 days....Key is 1-2 per week.......However keep at it and you will achieve your goal!!

Losing weight and keeping it off is not done by diet. Diets are short changes we make for short term gains. To lose weight and keep it off we make a LIFE STYLE change, change in what and how much we eat and exercise, this is the key to the results we want and how to keep those results.

As for results healthy weight loss is no more that 2 lbs a week.

Yup, it's a Lifestyle Change. Ask yourself 'what are you going to do after 30 days?' You can't go back to the eating scheme you were on and expect to keep weight off.

As for weight loss itself, initially, you may lose more than three pounds in the first few weeks, but expect it to taper off and plateau after a few weeks to a healthy, safe couple of pounds.

I see what you mean, the 30 days is all about how intense my diet and routine will be. After 30 days I am going to still be dieting and exercising, but just not at the same crazy intensity. I have lost over 30 pounds by myself before, so I know what I need to do. I kept it off for years, over the past few years it started coming back because fast food kept sneaking up into my diet. I know it is a life long change and am willing to accept that. I just need to get into the mode, once I am in the mode then I am set. When I dieted before it became addicting and I didn't want to do anything other than go to the gym. I used to go at least 5 times a week. I feel like I just need to get past the 1 week hump, that is going to be the hardest part for me!
