I am very much a muncher, at night I need something to just munch on while i read my book or see the news before I go to sleep.
Would a high fiber dry cereal be my best bet?

No food before sleeping! Hahaha I have the same problem.
Try having a couple of scoops of frozen yogurt about 1hr1/2 before bed. I know you like the crunch, or try biscotti they are low in fat and really crunchy.

frozen yogurt sounds really good, one of my hobbies is cooking, I love making new things. I don't mind spending alittle bit more than it costs, if i get to make it.
I will look for a good frozen yogurt recipe.
I've been reading alot of posts about good nutritional, no wonder i've gained so much weight.
Just expect to see alot of posts from me in the future, I am committed to this!

I buy it at the grocery store in the ice cream freezer. If you like the "crunch" try a mixed berry variety. But if you can make it, go for it, just remember the one in the store is low fat.
Looking forward to your posts, and welcome to freetrainers.

frozen yogurt is a great idea!
I could be wrong but the biscotti...although that would be a great snack mid-day or earlier, after 6-7 o'clock not a very good idea biscotti is bread i.e. very high in carbs!
I stick to things such as beef jerky late in the night high in protein low in carbs and low in fat.
is this right carivan?

You are right, about the carbs . I should have been more specifec about the Biscotti though heres the facts of the box.
The nutrition count here is for 5 of them:
Carbs 20g
Fat 5g
protein 4 g
Sugar 9g
I usually have 1-2 in the evening. Came highly recommended by my dietitian. I'm not saying eat them right before bed though.
And if you want to get them, the brand is Bastoncini. The only fat in them really is from the almonds. No preservatives either. Anyway, enough rambling.

i always have peanuts or almonds in my house. if i really have to munch on something i grab a handful of nuts and try to eat them slow. yes high in fat, but its monounsaturated fats.
i guess i figure mono fat is better than carbs for weight loss.. do you agree ivan? or should i take it easy on the nuts at night?

Not just high in fats(good or bad), but high in calories over all. I'd say eat the peanuts and almonds sparingly.

I would eat those almond more earlier in the day along with a fruit as a snack. And like returnof plex says sparingly, like not more than about 15-20.
