I am a 21 year old college student. I have been lifting weights for a short time. I have recently taking about a month off from lifting weights, and was planning on going back to lifting next week. I wasn't sure if I should start back on a beginners training program or try maybe an intermediate program. Also if I start at the beginners level how long should I train with that type of program?

There really is no set time rule. If you feel the program is getting easier, then you should "graduate" to the next level. Do you normally take a whole month off of training? Anything past 1 week and you risk losing some strength...just a tip.

Good luck!

It depends on how experienced you got before you stopped. But with any long lay off, in your case a month, I wouldn't necessarily stick to a full beginners schedule, but for the first week, I wouldn't go all out with poundage, or the number of sets. I would just try to break in the muscles for the first week. Plus, with a month off, like rpacheco said, you would have lost strength anyways!
