Hi Sara, as a fellow brit and someone who's lost some weight in the past 18 months through exercise I thought I'd say hello.

If it's weight loss you want to get fairly quickly, I can't recommend running highly enough. Personally I always hated it, never enjoyed running on roads and detested getting hot and sweaty in the gym on a treadmill, but then taking on a few challenges from fitter friends (10K runs etc) I got really into it.
I've now completed 6 half-marathons, a marathon, 3 10Ks, a number of off-road races, 2 Tough Guys, 2 Royal Marines Commando Challenges and a number of others while losing just under a stone from having not been overweight in the first place!

I'd suggest giving it a go, set yourself a goal, maybe even enter for a race in a couple of months time and then aim towards it.
