Muscle weighs more than fat. NO IT DOESN'T! A pound is a pound is a pound. A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat, it just takes up less space to achieve that.
Sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine. |

I agree. It's like the old question "What weighs more, a pound of gold or a pound of feathers?".

I take it that you are referring to my post on the "pounds" thread in which i asked if "volume for volume" muscle weighs three times heavier than fat, not weight for weight, like you thought i had written, (every body knows that one pound of feathers weigh the same as one pound of coal, but their volumes are greatly different) i.e. one cubic inch of muscle against one cubic inch of fat, that is what "volume" means.
All self explanatory really  |

I use 'muscle is more dense' and then make a fist. A fist size chunk of muscle is going to weigh more than a fist size chunk of fat.

Actually I wasn't singling out anyone in specific, and actually bigjock, I noticed that you added the volume specification so it definitely was not aimed at you. I just thought I would start this, and other people would start leaving their pet peeves...like how much do you bench?

"My body just wants to be fat." Um, no it doesn't(medical exceptions excluded).
"I have no metabolism." Everyone has one. It always ends up being diet related. "I've got a lot of muscle." Mostly when said by an overweight person who's never seriously strength trained. When the weight comes off, they see just how wrong they were. I did. "I can't" Those are the worst two words. "I could do that if I had to." When said by someone who is out of shape and trying to talk themselves up. My biggest pet peeve is the advertising industry as a whole, Every pill, gimmick, and ab routine that promises to make you skinny. I find it really annoying how they barely manage to fit the words "when used in conjunction with proper diet" on the package. |

"how do I get a six pack?" As a trainer I hear that far too often. No one wants to hear the answer which usually includes, stop drinking beer, eating crap and being lazy. Once a person hears a six pack is basically diet, they almost give up. No one wants to stop eating Doritos and drinking beers. I guess one needs to learn what their priorities are. Mine, as a trainer, is to tell them to eat better.-------------- I see the words you are typing, but all I read is *click*click*click* Fat loss isn?t under the control of the magic fat loss fairies. - Alwyn Cosgrove |

Here here, to all the above, but as thepoohguy says lets stop singling people out and lets help the people who (like us in the past) don't know as much as we all know right now, get on the right track, after all we are all learning all the time, and thank god for that, because if we didn't all learn then what chance do any of us have.

Heinekin beer is distributed by a truly Canadian company by the name of Molson, who also owns a hockey team (Montreal Canadiens)!
BTW it is not a German beer, it is Dutch from the Netherlands In any case, nice shot.. -------------- Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success. Ivan (GO HABS GO!) Montreal Canada (City of Festivals) |

hate to break it to you, Ivan, but Molson merged with US based Coors in 2005. So, it seems, it's only partly Canadian.-------------- I see the words you are typing, but all I read is *click*click*click* Fat loss isn?t under the control of the magic fat loss fairies. - Alwyn Cosgrove |

Tim, you just broke my heart! I do remember that, now that you bring it up. But they still own the Montreal Canadiens, and Heineken is a Dutch beer. Oh well, heers to Coors!

Heineken, molson, coors or good old fasioned Scottish McEwans export, "aye, McEwans, the best buy in beer", (any man from Scotland over the age of 40 will remember the advert). Who cares as long as it tastes cold, cool and refreshing, typical Scotsman, eh.
