Hello and welcome to freetrainers. You sound like me except for the heart problem! Congratulations on starting to take care of your body. If you cut back on the unhealthy foods, and exercise regularly, your cholesterol will drop by itself and your doc will freak out. Along with exercise, your bp will get to normal.
Also add fiber to your diet with citrus fruits. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
By the way, my bad cholesterol went from 5.2 down to 3.8. Anywhere under 4 is considered healthy.

Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.

Hey, I am a 45yo M 145# from Duluth MN, have always been average fit and active with biking and hiking with less activity in the last 4-5 years, After 30 years of smoking and having recently found out that I have High blood pressure and high cholesterol and experiencing numbness and tingling in my arms and legs( heart problems common in the male side of my family) it is definately time to take my health more seriously. I just joined a gym, my health insurance will pay most of the cost. I need to work on my diet, but it is confusing when one book tells you one diet for high blood pressure and another tells you the opposite for high cholesterol, so where is the happy medium.I am not overwieght, just not as tone as I used to be and not as heart healthy, any advise would be greatly appreciated.
