Hiy'all,
I notice on almost all food products that there is an indication of how many calories it holds but it is expressed in 2 different values, for example it lists, 307 kJ/73 kcal
Now on my personal nutrition page it says I need 3950 calories but now I am confused as to what figure I should look at. Is it 3950 kJ or 3950 kcal???
Thnx in advance,
Enkidu

When you first signed up, do you remember which metric you chose (i.e. U.S. vs. European)?

Yes I chose European, so my weight is expressed in kg's instead of pounds.

Also please tell me how much 1 loaf of bread weighs, I have no way of measuring this and I want to calculate how much calories/karbohydrates/proteins bread gives me. On the nutrition page it calculates bread at 28gr, but what is 28gr, is that 1 loaf, 2 loafs,....???
Thnx again Robert

In the U.S., 1 slice is about 30 grams.

kcal is short for kilocalories and, on products, when it lists the amount of calories, it's actually listing the amount of kilocalories, so for all intents and purposes just think of kcal = calories.

Way back in Chemistry class, we learned a gram was about the weight of a paper clip. So, if you're trying to get a vague idea of the weight of something - round figures I mean, 'about' what bread or something weighs so you can at least know which 'ballpark' to be in (i.e. whether 28 grams is a loaf or a slice) just think paper clips....

From what I understand, IF you are not getting the proper amount of nutrition, your body goes into a kind of rationing state. In this state, it stores all the energy it can as fat. That is why eating more can actually help you loose weight.

bigpimp, how much do you weigh? What kind of exercise are you doing? Without basic info on you nobody can offer meaningful help. Fill out your profile. Also I'd suggest asking questions in a new thread that you start yourself. A lot of folks here don't bother to read the old threads.
-------------- I would have a million dollars now if only I had only followed CNBCs advice...and I had started with a hundred million dollars.

Because our calorie calculator is broken on this site. How much do you weigh?
