Okay, so I have a really stupid question that I can't seem to get a straight answer to. I have been lifting weights for about 18 monhths now, and worked out with a trainer in the beginning. I have been on my own for about a year and can't seem to get a straight answer on this. I use the leg press machine and put 4 45lb platters on each side. Is this 180lbs? or is it 360 lbs? I can't seem to get anyone to tell me! Thanks

That would be 360 (plus what ever the sled for the leg press weighs, but I do not count that)!

Cool! Thanks so much! I thought it probably was, considering the odd looks I get from some of the guys at the gym!!!!!

Thats all you are putting on a leg press machine??? Thats soo easy.

If the object of you doing those exercises is to strengtehn your legs, thats not the way to go about it. At least with me I have never gotten anything except conditioning from that exercise. I do squats. I bet if you do a proper set of squats you wont be able to do 200 lbs. And it will build your muscles.

Good luck with whatever you want to do :)

Okay Firehawk 734, now that's not very nice. 360lbs may be easy for you, but at 5'4", 145 lbs and FEMALE, I think I am doing pretty well.
I don't do dead lift squats since I don't have a spotter, but I do hack squats and lift about 140 lbs total.

I'm not interested in bulking up. In the type of job I do, I need to have strong legs and a strong back. I have no intention of doing more than conditioning. By the way, at 360 lbs on the leg press, I do 3 sets of 15 reps. :)

99trev...if you want the strongest back do deadlifts. I do them all the time without a spotter as well. Just go slow. And i think 360 for a female is great!

At the gym I go to, there is this weird bar that is kind of a self spotter that I sometimes use. It has cables on it with catches all the way up and down. I sometimes use it for standing lunges or bench presses as well. I try to mix my routine up, otherwise I get bored.

Somehow I screwed up and posted the same message twice. Anyway.... Suggestions on how to get rid of the little leftover roll from having kids that is just over each hip bone (like right even with the pockets on your jeans). It is small, but drives me CRAZY. I can't get rid of it.

99trev - you've probably heard this till you're sick of it but you aren't going to be able to spot reduce. It's almost always, first on, last off and the body fat melts away slowly over the whole frame, not just in one section.

99trev, I have had a baby so I know what you are talking about. It isn't easy, but once you start to reduce your bodyfat, you will see it start to reduce. Just keep weight training and it will eventually shrink....it will take a while, nothing happens overnight.
