hello
i am young , 20 years old, and very overweight. due to an extended injury i was inactive for the last couple years, but am now completely healed and can tackle anything.
im am 5'11 and 255 pounds... need to get to around 180...
so far my plan is to switch to healthy foods, particularly salads with no fat dressings (Garden salads only)
and spend about 30 minutes to an hour on a treadmill 5 days a week.
will this plan see results?

still nice and young like me.. I guess.. shouldn't have any problems losing that weight... how much did you weight before the injury? That treadmill should do the trick.. as long as you don't get burnt out on it.. Stick to it.. throw in some weight training while you are at it..
And good luck. Make sure you add a before photo.. then you'll be able to show off your achievement..

Spend some time looking over some posts in the diet forums. You can't just eat salad all the time. There's tons of great tasting food that will fit a healthy lifestyle. Also like Dave said, try doing some strength training a couple days a week(half of the muscle groups one day, then the other half on the next) to really speed up the process.

Im with you man! I need to lose about 60lbs and I have no excuse! Diet and regular excercise will do the trick for sure! Why not add a little turkey or grilled chicken to that salad? Body still needs protein!

Thank you for the replies. I have gained over 50 pounds in the last 6 months.
Also, will a program like p90x with just the resistance bands work better then the treadmill? Reason i ask is it will be easier to do the p90x program every day then to make it to the gym every day.
Thanks

Anything that gets you moving will work, be it P90x or otherwise. It's about getting your heart rate up(not to heart attack levels mind you) and keeping it up over a period of time. One thing I will praise P90x for is that it incorporates a lot of mild resistance training which makes the results come a lot quicker.

Seriously? It took you longer than a week to put the weight on, it'll take a while to take it off. BB1fit posted an excellent cutting diet in the diet forums. It's not a permanent solution, but you will lose weight on it.
