I just recently started working out. i do about 50 pushups per workout session and I do about 3 sessions per day. I know your muscles are supposed to be sore in your arms but are you supposed to have tender muscles in your chest as well? if so, i didnt know that your chest muscles were involved when doing pushups. Also, I have tenderness in my lower abdomen as well. is that from the pushups as well? i havent started doing situps yet. my workout usually consist of many pushups and jogging for right now. could you please help me out?

Think of the movement of a push up. It is similar to a bench press or chest press except you are using your body weight in reverse. The same effect would happen if you were to do them against a wall.
Keep up the good work and don't forget to rest.
