Hey guys, im a 16 year old, i weigh around 225, and am about 6'2. I have been trying to lose weight for a long time, but nothing has really happened. I figure its because i never had enough money to follow the diets on most websites, nor do i have a job to buy enough food to eat 7 times a day lol. I might be able to mix things up a bit, so could someone please tell me some cheap things I could buy/or find in my house? Also another main reason i posted this topic is because i was looking for 2 or 3 of the best weight losing/toning supplements out there, Im going to try it no matter what, so atleast you nice people could do was direct me towards the right stuff honestly, So please help me :), Im not meaning to sound rude.

Tuna is cheap and convenient. Eggs are also fairly cheap and eay to make. They both have high protein and little to no fat. Make sure you get the tuna in water and not oil though.

I believe it's 6 g of protein in a complete egg.
When I was younger I didn't completely change what I ate to lose weight, I just ate less of it, there is much to be said for portion control.

Yes actually around 6.5 gr of proteins per egg (3 gr in the egg white and 3.5 gr of protein and 6gr of fat in the yolk, around 75 cal in total AND vitamine A,D,E and K!!!)

I love whole hard boiled eggs, but everyone seems bent on egg whites only. Do y'all think the fat and cholesterol in yolks makes them just not worth the extra protein you get?

I love whole hard boiled eggs too, i usually have 5 or so straight out of a bowl, i tend to pop out 4 yolks and have 1 with as a treat =)

to me the fat in the yolk is far too much for my plan and routine. If i was bulking i'd be eating them whole.

I do the same thing with my eggs. I beat one whole egg with two whites so it at least turns a pale yellow color. lol

Justin, why don't you give us an idea what you have lying around your house that you think you can use; it's hard to help without knowing what you have to work with. A few cheap things to keep around are whole wheat tortillas (I like the sprouted wheat tortillas but they're more expensive), brown rice, oatmeal and quinoa you can buy in bulk at a natural grocery for cheap (brown rice and quinoa you can cook a lot and keep it in the fridge), you can get good deals on chicken breasts if you get a huge bag of frozen chicken when it's on sale - then you can poach several at once and keep them in the fridge. Fresh veggies aren't too expensive and can be steamed really easily in the microwave. Protein shakes and bars can be expensive. I use Organic Frog Drink Your Greens which is about 35 bucks, but it's a superfoods plus protein shake so it takes care of my multivitamin, too.

It's hard to eat differently from the rest of your family, especially on a limited budget; I sympathize with you there! If you tell your family you're serious about this and you want to do it in a healthy way will they help you out a little?

Most people eat the egg whites for the protein. The fat actually comes from the yoke and most of us want the protein without the fat. I am also that that crazy about eating the yoke, it is very dry. The yoke also has protein in it.

I have a lot of oatmeal, but i thought most of what i should worry about is protein? is there any protein in oatmeal/rice? what nutritional value is there with rice?

Everythings to confusing anymore.

Justin_Wert, this site lists complete nutritional values for MANY foods, including oatmeal. Just use the resource buttons at the top of the screen. Also, if you fill out your profile, ft will design a program specifically for you. It will give you exact values of all your daily nutritional needs - protein, carbs, calories, and fat. All you have to do is pick the foods you like and make sure their values add up. Good luck!

Yes, oatmeal has protein. I use instant and it has 4 grams per serving.

justin_Wert--try becoming an avid label reader--most products these days--even packaged baby carrots--list nutritional values.

Reading labels sure helps me stay out of trouble!

I am new to the site. I am in need of introducing weights to my routine. I have lost maybe 8 pounds in two months by working out on my Gazzelle every morning and doing a few exercises on the ball. I am thinking to join bally's top have access to the weights I need and to make sure the routines are different. Is thsi site informative! Thanks:)
