I cannot do a pull up to save my life. What is a good substitution for these? Pulldowns?

I just saw the thread on Pullups from Bretto so I think you can disregard my question, unless anyone has further advice. I think I'll try the hanging idea. This is one area that if I can improve, I would really be pumped and proud of myself. Wish me luck!
