I don't understand % food intake!

I become rather confused.
I read about % intake, ie,
.20% Protine or 10% fats or 70% carbs.
. Take this amount of grams, etc,etc
Why I'm confused, do I look on the back of a tin, or would I just weigh my chickens and tunas.
How and what do I do?

Don't let it get the best of you and welcome to freetrainers. The % is based on your total calorie intake. IE if you were to have 2000 calories total per day, 70% of the calories should come from carbs
20% of the calories should com from protein
10% of the calories should come from fat
Total 100%
Do not have to be bang on , it is a guide line.
