hi all, this is my 1st time here and i have a question about personal trainers.i went to a gym a few years ago and i didn't have a clue and i found the people there not to be much help so i didn't go again.but recently i have found a personal trainer on the net and she sounds very nice and she wants to meet with me in september.is it a good idea to bring in a personal trainer??very expensive but i thought she could put me on the right track and i would really like to be able to really challenge myself and get into some kind of competitions in the near future!!thanx for reading this,i'm grateful for any suggestions.

Welcome fitnessfemale, I think person trainers can be a lot of assistance to people. I have never used one myself I came here instead I cant afford one. I have consulted one though and was not overly impress with here knowlege. But that was only one out of many I have two friends that have been using one regularilly for about a year and they seem very pleased. I would think it would be like any other position get references and talk to people he/she has helped in the past. As far as getting on the right track I am sure with the resources here at ft you would not have any problems and the price is much better. Good luck

I think that personal trainers are great for people who are just starting out or need some assistance in meeting their goals. Yes they can be very expensive, but they can show you the correct way to do exercises and keep you from injurying yourself.

Getting a personal trainer is one of the very best things you can do when starting to weight train. He or she will show you the way for YOU to get where you want.

It's expensive yes, but it's definitely worth it (except if you get a bad personal trainer....... hmmmm cannot do anything about that I'm afraid. The best thing is to get one that you KNOW has succesfully helped others...).
