Drop your carbs and up the cardio. Don't go too low in calories, but if there is room to drop - even 50 or 100 - try that as well. Good luck.

Leaness is a product of exercise and diet combo. Everyone has trouble with those "last 5-10 lbs." Your body will struggle to hold on to them, you probably have reached your bodies "set point". If you have been here for a while, then a shock is in order. You may not only have to reduce your carbs, but your protein as well. Not knowing your caloric intake, I can only say that there is a spillover point for protein too. You may have to also incorporate some more intense cardio, such as HIIT. But you can do it...best of luck.

ooooh I'm having the same problem!! ARGH...it is extremely hard!
I eat between 1500-1800 calories and try to go for more protein and less carbs and if I eat carbs it's more vegetables over fruit and stuff like whole wheat bread or pasta. I have my oatmeal in the morning to start my day with more energy and try to keep the carbs before 4pm.

I'm afraid to up my cardio because I don't want to lose muscle but I guess I will lose some whether I like it or not. I do weight train 3 days per week...I work heavier with the upper body and do a lighter weights and higher reps for the legs.

I'm 5'5" and about 120-125lbs

Any tips?

yea...not relating to me, but what if you need to get those last ten pounds of fat off? I know you have to up the cardio and lessen the carbs and higher the protein but what if you weight train a couple times a week is it still possible? Because in order to gain muscle you have to make your intake of calories a little bit higher...

EGchic207...all I know is that you can't do both. You will lose a little muscle if you try to lose bodyfat..in order to put on muscle you have to eat more than you take in..I think that's how it works.

yea me too....but if you lift weights while your trying to loose weight, will it maintain your muscles? or will you still be loosing muscle no matter what. Bcause if your still loosing muscle while you lift, their is really no point in lifting weights if ur trying to loose weight

Lifting weights is always important no matter what your goals are though.

You don't lose loads of muscle while trying to lose weight at all. You just don't put on more. I think if you keep everything balance you'll be fine.

When cutting it's extremely important to continue lifting weights OR you'll definitely loose your muscles.
Keep up your protein intake and DON'T loose more than 1-2lbs weekly (except the first week where you'll be loosing a lot of water as well...).

As your body weight decreases, so does the number of calories you need for maintenance. Meaning that eating the same amount of calories per day on a diet will yield progressively smaller results. So if you've hit a plateau, you'll need to increase the amount of calories you burn, reduce the number you eat, or both. Just increase the defecit slowly via small increments.

Make sure any carbs you're eating come from fibrous plants, legumes, beans (same as legumes?) - etc. Avoid excess carbs in any one meal (save post-wo shake). Stick to lean proteins and healthy fats.

If you've been doing regularly-paced cardio, try HIIT in the mornings to pump your metabolism on non-weight days. Or if you've been doing HIIT, try less intense but even paced cardio for longer periods of time. I've known people that had (or said they had) better success with traditional cardio rather than HIIT.
