The question that I must ask is, are you weight training or body building? If so the likely instance is that you are gaining muscle weight. Muscle weighs much more than fat, I am sure you have heard that before.
The loosing and gaining could be you loosing some fat and much water weight while gaining and strengthening muscle. The stronger the muscle the more mass it will have. Even if your muscles do not seem to change in "size" even when they simply straighten they will have more mass to them.
Another thing you have to remember is water weight, water can alter the way the scale shows numbers but in the end it is lost. Make sure you are staying hydrated, even if it causes minor fluctuations in your weight.
I understand it is stressful and can be dis-encouraging. I am in the same situation currently. I check for positive gain/plateau by measuring my BMI and body fat percentage. As long as those two factors show positive to my goal I don't worry too much.
Please note that I am not an expert, this is simply something I have learned from others and personal experience. Hope it helps, if any. :)

Hi everyone,
I'm new to FT and I hope maybe you can help me. Okay, so I've lost about 22 lbs, which is great, but I have a lot more to go. The problem I'm having is, I don't want to say it's a plateau, but the last few weeks I'll lose over a pound one day and then the rest of the week I gain weight and can't seem to lose. I won't always gain it all back, but today is the 3rd day in a row that I've gained again this week. I'm exercising everyday, as I have been, I'm still watching what I eat, but I'm still gaining weight.
Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to stop it? I do NOT want to gain this weight back and I'm determined to get down to my ideal weight, but I'm starting to get discouraged. Help!!!
