I was wondering if I could possibly get suggestions for a cheap way to consume alot of protein? Maybe a diet plan. I am 220 pounds and lifting very heavy. I hear that I need to consume 1.5 grams of protein per pount of bodyweight. This to me sounds like alot of protein powder sine currently 2 scoups of my powder equal 55 grams of protein. And as you all know protein powder isnt the cheapet thing in the world. Could anyone please give me a suggestion how to get the appropriate amount of protein without spending a fortune? I guess im a looking for a sample diet that some of you big guys use to try to duplicate that.

A simple 5 meal per day plan, say 5 eggwhites, 5 oz. chicken, with some whole grain cereal 1st..second, a protein drink, 3rd, 6 oz. chicken breast, can of tuna or such with carbs, 4th, another protein drink, and meal 5 have 8 oz. of some lean meat...chicken, turkey, beef. There will be 230 grams of protein, and only 2 protein drinks, which shouldn't break you and keep your diet "whole food based". Just one suggesstion. There are many ways to do this, but a 5 meal plan is fairly optimal and easy to follow.

Buy chicken, milk, and eggs in bulk. I go to Sam's club and stock up at least once a month. I spend more all at once, but over the course of the month I save about $50 - $75.

I agree but if you buy in bulk on sale etc they are rather cheap. I wait for the sales and then buy a lot

hell, the albertson's store out here regularly puts fresh boneless, skinless chicken breasts on sale for a $1.77/pound. when they do, i still load up (LOL).
and dont forget cottage cheese! it's pretty cheap, and has a nice protein amount (avg. 14g/half a cup). a great post-workout meal is a yogurt/cottage cheese combo.

I buy egg whites in frozen 1Litre containers. They look like 1litre milk cartons, but are egg whites. $4 for each and you get like 5 good protein servings out of it. Can't get cheaper than that. 6 eggs=200ml.
I just take 200ml's and mix it with 1cup of rolled oats and add some cinamon and vanilla extract.. maybe some sweetner and nuke it for 2 mins. Pretty tasty pancake with tons of protein and just enough carbs.
