Im currently a member of Golds Gym and I'm just wondering if a personal trainer is expensive. Im on a budget as I'm getting married next August but need to tone up first. Can anyone give me an insight as to whether a trainer is worth it (No offence to you trainers!) or if I should just start to disapline myself. Thank you.

Most gyms offer 1-2 or so free visits with the personal trainers. I would check into that first. Yes they are expensive, but you need to judge if you are ok with the gym, you know if you know how to do the exercises safely and know how to do the machines as well. Most members at the gym are cool with helping out to a point. I have been to a few "chain" gyms (golds and bally's) and have found most of the trainers not to be all that good (no offense to those here LOL). I would also ask a few memebers at your gym about it.

Thanks for the reply. I'll ask tomorrow when I go back to the gym. I just feel like I cant disapline myself and my husband-to-be just started boxing and is getting great results so I just want to keep up with him I guess and tone up. I think I will end up going for a trainer so i'll more-or-less HAVE to go, if you know what I mean. Anyway, wish me luck!

It's a very good idea to make a personal trainer help you in the beginning. Some gyms (like mine) get free pt's to help you when you start. Check out in your gym!!!

If you think 35-40 dollars per hour is inexpensive, and you have no motivation, then a personal trainer is worth it to you. On the other hand, if you have no motivation, you probably will waste your money, because you will not stay with it anyway. Make no mistake about it, if you really want to get into shape, with or without a personal trainer, there is work involved. It in some ways is like a job, you have to do it almost daily to get paid. And no personal trainer can make you stick to your diet. That is 75% of the battle. Like some of the clients I train, you can always tell which are doing their diet and who isn't. If someone is training hard in the gym, but not losing weight, you can bet your bottom dollare they are cheating on their diet. This is just some things to think about from a personal trainer. You can learn lots on this board, and do very well. Best of luck.....
