You don't happen to have a stepper machine? I sometimes do cardio on a stepper on my tip toes just to hit my calves. Works great and they really burn from it. |

A length of wood 2 inches high 4 inches wide you can get them at any home inprovement store have one cut to about 3-4 feet place it on the floor sit in a chair. Put your toes on the board like you would for seated calf exercise. Place a dumbbell or barbell across you knees and do the raises. Hope this helps!-------------- Those who lift understand it. Here is a way I do them at work. I sit at a desk 9 hours a day. So as I sit there I wedge my legs under the desk and try to lift it off the floor with just my calves. LOL I almost knocked over the whole cubical. No on ever told me they all were connected. Anyway it helps keep them growing-------------- Those who lift understand it. Yo Skinnyrobin,
If you've tried other exercises and have reached a plateau, give 50s or 100s a try. They're a little extreme, and some of the more conservative types may shake their heads, but they have helped me. If you're really at a stalemate, give 'em a try for a couple weeks and see what happens. Note: You probably won't be able to walk normally for a few days. I use a seated calf raise machine when I do these, but I'm sure they'd work with any calf exercise - even weighted raises on steps or wood blocks. Just pump out 50 (or 100 if you're really adventurous) reps - big stretch at bottom (pause), then hold 'em high at the top (pause). DO NOT BOUNCE. Do 3 sets of these on Monday, 3 sets on Wednesday, and 3 sets on Friday. You'll have to keep the weight lower than normal (duh). Just be sure to feel the calf muscles working and get a good stretch on both ends. I try to image myself pushing my calves up a tiny bit higher on each rep. Do this for two weeks (18 sets over 2 weeks). Then go back to your regular program. Let me know if this wakes up those stubborn "cows". TSMD |
