For about 15 years I have been up to 125 lbs over-weight. Other than the usual reasons, my medical history is one that should not have any over-weight on it. Too many things can go wrong and things are beginning. Every doctor treats one of the ailments and, from what they say, I come to the conclusion that it has to do with weight. Recently, I had a bit of an epiphany, that while heart, etc. are important, health comes down to body size (weight is assumed but not the focus). We are all born with a body type--genetics--and generally have proportionate sized organs for that type. As we increase our size, our pancreas is forced to work harder to keep the insulin levels regulated. Once it breaks down, its diabetes and then just a holding action against the inevitable. Back away from that is my new philosophy. However, of course, I need some support and personal accountability. I need to change dietary habits and balance that with exercise.
