I started working out very recently. I noticed that during and after weight training my muscle are very fatigued and shakey. I understand that some pain is normal to be experienced during work outs but where do you draw the line? Is it possible that I'm doing too many reps at too high of a weight? If I ever experience sharp pain, then I stop, but I'm not sure how I should react to this type of muscle fatigue.

Thanks for the help!

Hi J_Cat

It's possible that could be it.  Start out with lighter weights.  Feeling some burn is normal as you awaken your muscles and test them out and as they become accustomed to doing what you`re doing, you`ll be able to add more weight.

Keep in mind that any pain you`re experiencing could also be a result of your form.  Be careful that you`re using good form - check out the exercises on this site and you`ll see a ton of pictures that will show how you should be doing things.

Sharp pain is bad, and it may not be a bad idea to check with your doctor or if you`re at a gym, ask a trainer to watch as you perform that movement and they may offer you some tips.  Perhaps consider hiring them to put together a program for you depending on what your goals are :)

Good luck and let us know how you`re doing!
