Hi! This may be a dumb question, just to prepare you ;) Does anyone know, if you just work on muscle without really dieting at all.. so that you gain muscle without losing much fat, will you still improve the shape of your body?

If you gain muscle and have a layer of fat, say abs for instance, you will actually look fatter, due to the newly built muscle pushing the fat in front of it out even farther. You can improve the overall shape of your body of course, but you will most probably look better with clothes on if you know what I mean.

But it's so much easier to stay slim when having lots of lean muscle mass.
Just a little bit of discipline is needed.......

From your original post, it sounded like you had a decent amount of fat, but with this new post, you say you don't. So, then, yes, just go ahead and "shape up" as you put it. If you fill in your profile, it will really help us to help you a bit more. We don't even know your gender.

welcome mepronovost, keep asking the questions, it will help you do things the right way and we aer here to help!
I am a firm believer, whether, large, small, medim, whatever size you are, if you want a healthy body, you need a clean diet and exercise!
just to share something with you, when i had first started really getting into shape (I had exercised regularly but wasn't full blown into it) a few years back my friend and i decided to do it together. we went in and got our body analysis together. I was 5'4" 145lbs and my bf was at about 19%. You could imagine the shocking look on both of your faces when she weighed in at 115lbs being 5'6" and her bf was at 27%. I couldn't believe it! The PT explained to me that since I had been working out most of my life and stayed in adequate shape, as per my friend, who never worked out at all, I had a lot more muscle mass than her. So it doesn't matter how small you are, if that is not lean muscle on your body, it can only mean that it is something else. Keep up the good work and you will get the results you want!
