Hi All,

I started the "Couch to 5k" training. I have the 9 weeks of 30minute podcasts on my phone  so I can plug in and listen to them while I train.

Day 1 (Monday) I reached 22 minutes then needed the loo so stopped when I had completed 2.2k
Day 2 (Wednesday) I completed the 30 minutes training having done 2.97k

Question is, when I am running (I am very VERY unfit) and I am breathing, I don't feel like I am breathing right and feel like I going to hyperventilate and sometimes get a bit dizzy. I am sure if I can sort out a correct breathing technique it will be much better... The instructer in the gym was useless....

Any tips??

Thanks

Pam x

Walk first. There are many walking techniqies that can get you up to 4 mph using fast walking techniques. When you can do a couple of 4 mph miles, you'll be ready to speed up. Then use a combination of run walk to build up more. There are no tricks to breathing nor are there tricks to fitness. Crawl, walk, fast walk, run walk, run.

Thanks for your reply Mr K_t_G :-)  I have had to stop right now as I have hurt my knee. Nothing serious I don't think so just walking for now until the pain goes away and will start to build up again. Even though it is a 9 week training programme, I have decided to do 2 weeks at each stage and make it an 18 week program.  I have an instructor at the gym who has sorted me out a weights program to do too.:-)

It's about lifestyle. No rush necessary. Enjoy the trip.

Pam, I'm not mean. The name has a story.. On my FB page I post a short summary of my days workout. My friends enjoy it. I'm 60. My cardiologist pronounced my heart strong after a recent scare that resulted in a ccardiac cath. I started calling my daily post "kill the geezer as a joke. It took.
