Hello to everyone.
Just joined this wonderful site today (May 8th 2014).
Was wondering how do we figure out initial weights of various exercising machines. Do we start off slow and work our way up? Is there a minimum weight to set on each machine, as per our actual body weight?

Experiment. If you do 3 or 4 sets the first 3 should start light and go up. Try 10 reps very light , 10 a bit heavier, 10 reps heavier, 10 reps with a fairly heavy weight that you can finish with good form.
Form is all. Keep your weight on the light side until you fully understand the movements. Youtube is loaded with instruction but the photos here work well for most.

I agree make sure you are doing the movements right before doing more weight, but if your using machines that is not an issue because the machine controls your movements. second the amount of weight you use depends on what your trying to do if your toning up then lighter and higer reps are what you want to shoot for if your trying to gain mass heavey low reps i was always taught if you do 3 sets of lets say 8 and you still fill like you can do 12 the weight is to light you should barley be able to complete the weight or maybe go over by one. Vis versa if you are trying to do 3 sets 8 reps each and you can only do 4 or 5 its to much weight bring it down, so Rich it just depends on what you are trying to do.
