When I have Karate on monday, my muscels are still sore 3 days later. Is this normal? Or does it mean my diet is inefficient? |

How long have you done Karate for? I've done it for awhile and after the first couple of time my muscles were killing me, but lately that hasn't been a problem. I don't think it's a diet thing.-------------- Be patient, persistent and strong and you will succeed. |

Soreness is different for all of us, when I workout I don't feel sore until 24 hrs later, the sensation gets worse, then goes away after about another day.-------------- Peace on earth Ivan Montreal Canada |

I didnt lift legs for a whole 2 months. When i started up again I took squats really hard and it felt like my hamstrings were going to pop. I was sore for three days after ward. But after a few weeks of lifting legs on a continous basis I only get sore for about a day. So my question is how long have you been doing karate for??? |

I had a boxing class last Thursday, today it's Saturday and I'm still sore!!!! I've been boxing for almost 1 1/2 month now but I'm still extremely exhausted and sore the couple of days after. Be sure of getting a good meal after the class, a good nice warm shower and rest. -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. |

i was in martial arts for around 8 years before college started and i had to put it off but i do remember the soreness very well. i just started working out again and im usually sore for a day or two (even if i still am i go to the gym cause the warmup seems to make it feel better) but i think the soreness you get in martial arts is much worse cause it works muscles that you don't normally use, as well as the pain from the stretching (or snapping motion) it should get better the longer you go |

sometimes you need more of a cool down or more water to reduce soreness. Also you could just be pushing yourself to your limits every time (which is good!) ... I know this summer when I was working with a personal trainer, he pushed so hard that every time I went to see him I would be exhausted and definatley sore ... but i did see good results |

i've been doing karate for about 1.5 years now on a regular basis. Its probably (like jennvice said) coz i go to the limits during training. Its not a problem with relaxing the muscels, coz afterwards i go swimming and in the sauna. I'm usually too tired to do any proper swimming, so i just sort of lie in the baby pool. :)trainings getting more demanding by the week so thats why they don't properly get used to the strain their under. it doesn't really matter anyway, i was just curious. besides, i love the tired and worn out feeling after training. thanx everyone for your replys! |

OK, thanx all for posting your replys to sore. I have been unable to do any activity for about 5 years. Medical probs, and two open heart/lung suregeries.
So now I am trying to get back in shape. At least healthy. In the years before I had donw Gymnastic and Tae Kwon Do and Aikido. Well I did my first day of the beginning routine. Now 3 days later. My calves and Quads are very tender to the touch. I would love to have any suggestions. I have continued upper body but have laid off the legs. I used to when active was to just work on through the soreness and it would get better. I am not sure now. Thanx all for answers. |
