Whenever I've heard of lifting weights, the goal seems to be, "to build lean muscle mass." What other kinds of muscle mass are there, what is their purpose, and how do you go about getting them?

Other kinds of muscle mass? Lift heavy, sleep well and eat for four and you'll get all the needed lean muscle mass "lean" because it's not fat!). Now then you got fast or slow working fibres but that's a question about the work you do, one example is power lifting versus endurance training.

There really is no other type of muscle mass. People attach that word on to it in marketing because lean is the opposite of fat and a lot of people stop listening when they hear it. All they here is lean Q#%)(#^%()Q#%#%*Q)#^%(# and that's all they need to hear. There are a lot of women out there that think they'll have model-like bodies if they just lose fat, not realizing that they also need muscle. So the word 'lean' is a way to hook people.

Oh yes it's no fun to look skinny anyway. You wont be able to eat anything and you'll just get fat. With muscles and a high metabolism the life is soooooo much easier and funnier!!!
