Hey, I posted this problem before, but I just can't seem to get the hang of building my pecs!
I went to the gym today for my first FT.com pec workout and I found that Im spent after my warmups, and the warmups aren't even on a heavy weight.
should I stop benching and just do freeweights for the time being? I just need to build up my basic pec muscles, it's getting pretty frusterating, thanks!

Maybe the 'unheavy weight' was actually too heavy - for a warm up that is. I have found that free weights have drastically improved my physique compared to machines. Also, you could try another way of warming up, eg, i do 10 mins rowing for my warmup.

Your warm up set should not tire you out, if it does then drop the weights..go very light, the idea is to only warm up the muscles for your working sets.
I Like using the Dumbbell bench for developing chest, dumbbells are a great way to start off, because both sides need to develope at the same rate before you go up in your weights, and you can't cheat or lift more with one side. Free weights has always been my choice, esp when starting out, because they work alot more mucsles that a machine, Machines are really good at targeting the specific mucsle, and I usually do 2 excersies with free weights and 1 on machine per body part

to effectively build your chest you need to work the whole pec muscle, i usually start with bench 8-6-6-4 then flyes10-8-8 incline flyes 10-8-8 dips 10-10-10 pullovers 12-10-8

I have been a chronic bird chest until recently..(the last year or so)
What I did, was lot's of dumbell work, and it worked.
I have found that because of the free nature (one in each hand) they really work the whole muscle, and it creates mass pretty quick..after awhile I started inclining, and decling to target the top and bottom parts.
I have had a noticable change in my pecs in the last year.
Occasionally I will get on a machine and lift those, I am usually shocked by how much weight I can move on them, and find them to be a very inaccurate measure of how much I can really move around.
I avoid the the bench, mainly cause I don't have a spotter, and I am too shy to walk up to someone and ask them to do it for me.
But even without bench, the dumbells work good.
Don't forget to give them a break too, never work yer pecs two days in a row....when yer tryin to build mass.
This is what has worked for me anyhow, take it for what it's worth.
Good luck,
Bri

I agree, you have got to find what works for you. You will know when you find it.
