Hey all.
I'm brand new here, and to fitness and training in general. I'm 18 yo, not *quite* 6' even, and somewhere between 215 and 220 lbs. This is my first year of college, and, although I wasn't comfortable with my weight before college, I kept finding reasons to put it off, saying I wasn't that heavy. Now that I've gained the "freshman 15" (20-25 in my case), I want to start working out, get rid of all my extra weight, and keep it off. I'm starting with the beginning workout, and have been reading the boards, but still have a few questions.
I'm on a meal plan, and have a very packed schedule in the middle of the day. I understand that to heighten metabolism you should eat many small meals during the day, but I just don't have the time. Is a protein or energy bar enough to cover a meal?
I'm just starting out, I played around with the equipment at the gym last week, got a few people to show me how to use the more complicated stuff. The 20 rep set is the warm-up set, how much below your working weight should that be? And as for the working weight, do you choose a weight that you can't do all the reps with, and work up to doing all the reps, and then increase your working weight? That would help a lot.
Speaking of which, when should I start looking for results? My metabolism is *very* slow right now, I rarely eat more than twice a day. I'd love to look better by the summer, but I know that's just a dream ;)
Thanks in advance.
