Is it ok if my shoulders make a little popping noise when doing exercises like lateral raises or front dumbell raises? I feel no pain..just feel and hear a quiet little pop. My sister has the same concern...are we all right? |

the same thing happens to me also. it never posed as a threat to me, nor have i ever injured my shoulder because of it. unless you begin feeling pain because of it i shouldn't worry. i consulted my trainer in school about it and he told me not to worry, its just something your body is prone to doing for some reason. hope that helps |

Hey there spanishgirl.. what's new?Actually I have the same thing in my right elbow. I a have had it for years.. I don't even notice it anymore. It doesn't hurt just pop when I pass a certain angle during reps.. I think it's nothing to worry about. Pain would be a sign though.. .o0 Arnold 0o. |

Somebody clever once explained me that it's small amount of air stucked in the joint who's making the popping sound. If no pain no worries. |

My shoulder also pops even when I am not working out. It's been like that for at least three years. As long as there is no pain involved with the popping then you should be fine. |

i was wondering, since there is a supplement called glucosamine, by consuming that, will it eliminate this popping noise |

I'm not the best one to answer you, but I don't think glucosamine can do anything about air stucked in the joints.... |

My left shoulder makes a pop/click noise when I stretch it back. Kinda like the chest exercise cept a bit faster in moving it back. Im not sure if it was cos of boxing training, see I jab with my left arm alot. My theory is maybe jabbing into the air I overextended the bones of my left shoulder so maybe the bones are clicking now cos of that.
Its been like that for a week or 2 now, I feel no pain, not noticable ones anyways. Anyhow I really dont wanna have to see a doctor over this since I consider this a minor thing (my last visit was a month ago when I thought I may have diabetes, or heart problem, I didnt :)) so was wondering if there could be any truth to my theory or it poses any danger to me? |

It could be bursitis (sp?) When I had this checked out by my doctor (it was more painful in the beginning, but causes the pop sound now when doing shoulder exercises) he explained that it could make the popping sound due to the fluid/air bubbles... Here is a bit more on bursitis...

Both of my shoulders pop and they have for as long as I can remember (I'm 25 now) but when I've taken creatine in the past, it reduces it significantly, almsot no popping at all,...any ideas why this is? and how I could achieve the same result without using the side-effect prone creatine?

I'm not here to rock the boat, but I would not feel responsible if I didn't at least relay this message to you...
The Doctor that writes for Men's Health Magazine in this month or last month's issue specifically addresses this issue. It is NOT normal for a shoulder to pop regularly or creak (the occasional "knuckle crack," pop, I think, is normal) and if your shoulder is cracking or popping regularly, then you may be on your way to a serious injury. The shoulder is a complicated area of leverage applied to a smaller joint and a complex combination of ligaments and muscle spaghetti, so seriously, if she's sounding like Rice Krispies, See Doc. -------------- --There are no versions of the truth.-- Jeff Goldblum, Jurassic Park II |
