I twisted my ankle about two months ago, I elevated it and applied ice for several hours that night. I still have very slight swelling, and notice it really acts up when I try to jog on it. So I had to change my workout to more yoga, and pilates, low impact sort of things. Has anyone found that recovering from an ankle injury took a long time?

It normally takes around 3 months to heal....but as in Itroisi's case it can take longer. That depends if you give it enough rest or not.
I twisting mine once in fencing, and I can tell you I wore strapping around it for ages....

Hey... 4 onething twisting an ankle really hirts... I twisted it over 4 times up to this point maybe more not sure... just remember to keep it elevated as you said and apply cold (not hot) water or ice to relieve the swelling I remember taking pain killers as well coz it used to hurt a lot especially while I was asleep... when you have a cast on and it starts swelling... aint cool
hope you do alright

Twisting an ankle is very, very uncomfortable! Did that many times when I used to play basketball. The best thing is to not put too much weight on it...take it slow until it completely heals. We often take our ankles for granted and don't realize how much we depend on them for everyday chores.
Feel better soon...

Make sure to try to keep off of it as much as possible. Ice and elevate. Once and a while try walking normal on it, just to keep muscular circulation going.

I split my ankle tendon and had surgery and am in cast for next 3 months! Not a walking cast either.
