Should you wear one of these at all times when doing heavy weights? So far I have only seen the site tell me I needed to wear one for one exercise..

I usually wear them when I know I will be recruiting my back muscles for the lift (deadlifts, some squats when working with free weights only and shoulder presses). You don't want to wear them all the time as they tend to act as a secondary set of ab muscles! Try doing machine squats without them...big difference!

as i have adivsed with knee wraps: dont use them regularly. they should only be used specifically with heavy, heavy lifts, like in a competition. and even then, they should only be used as a safety device, not a "crutch" just to lift more. if you become too reliant on them, your muscle groups will actually weaken as a result.

That was the main thing I was concerned about, but things like "Good Mornings" seem like you should really wear them.

I really didn't put too much weight when I did those so didn't need to wear the belt. I would definitely advise them for deadlifts (and its variations), though...especially if your lower back has historically given you some problems.

No, no problems, and I'd like to keep it that way.

I have to agree with rev8ball and based on personal experience. I'm one of the old geezers on here and have had some major back trouble (in the past - not now). If you use those things to support weight that's not normally supportable, you're just asking for trouble. I start every back workout and heavy leg workout with back hyperextensions and ab workout. Use what you've got and don't depend on wraps or belt supports to take you past what you're capable of.

Never start doing an exercise while already wearing a belt. Use your abs and lower back muscles to support you in the beginning and it's not before you are taking very heavy (or getting very tired) that you should use the belt.
