Sometimes I wake up and have this pain in my right calf muscle. It feels like every muscle is tensing up and it kills for about 30 seconds, any ideas on what it is?

Cramps. The very best thing you can do to make it stop is to stretch the muscle. Do you drink enough water? (enough magnesium and pottasium as well?)

Somebody on here once posted about wiggling their toes when that happens, I tried it and it works very well.

I too have heard this can be attributed to a lack of potassium. Try eating a banana each day.

One other thing to consider is your vitamine "E" level it will help with leg cramps along with all other suggestions so far. When I first started cycling and again with Karate I had the same problem keeping in mind my diet sucked. I once woke up with one in my left calf tried to stand to walk it off got a second one in my right leg and i blacked out I could hardly walk for three days thats when I started learning. Good luck I know your pain

I eat many banana's everyday almost and I drink a lot of water. It could be the vitamine E or magnessium, ,but my diets pretty solid.
