Hey, this really bugs me, i never really had an injury. My shoulder popped out of its socket last night, not even while lifting, just playfighting with a friend. I put it back into place, and i wasnt in a great deal of pain, so i dunno how serious it is. I still feel it today, and i know i shouldnt lift. But how long should i take a break for, and what should i do? Is my shoulder gunna be weak for good now? I need help and advice on this, anyone else have had there shoulder pop out? |

really wasnt that bad, so i dont think its serious.Do u guys think i would need surgery? cause i really hope not. I wanna get back to lifting as soon as possible. Anyone else have any advice for me? or know how long i should wait till i lift again? For at least a week or 2 im going to try to give my arm as much rest as possible. |

A trainer who has his shoulder problems told me, im probly one of those guys that has weaker connective tissues and that ill be fine. He said i should take a break for about a week or 2, and put ice on it several times aday while taking advil 3 times a day. |

my shoulder use to slip out all the time and the doc told me that the cap that keep it in place has split in two.he recomended surgery or lift weights to strengthen the muscles around my shoulder.if it does really hurt u can still lift weights but not to heavy.Take it from me if u lift to much of a heavy weight you will feeln it later .

Go to a doctor and get it checked out. I screwed up mine a couple times before I went. It tires much quicker than the other now. Make sure you follow the doctor's orders to a T! Hopefully it involves physical therapy. I didnt do mine, thus the weak shoulder.

i had the shoulder popping out issue starting in 94. it's only happened 3 times totally and each time during basketball games. it wasnt' that painful and i continued to play which strengthened the muscles around my shoulder like sledge said. i would just take the intensity and weights down a notch for a while and ease it back up slowly. it kind of sucks for your other shoulder though b/c you want them to be even. but it's definitely worth the time to get it healthy again. if you want a definite answer i would still suggest you go to your doctor.

I have shoulder instability from an AC joint separation (where the clavicle meets the scapula at the tip of the shoulder). You can tell if this has happened to you by comparing to the other shoulder and noting a larger drop-off at the end of the clavicle. (Unless both shoulders are separated.) Weight training has helped me a lot, but I have been doing my best to keep my elbows forward (most dangerous on squats and military presses) and in if they're above my head (close-grip as opposed to wide grip lat pulls. Recently switched to bent-over rows).
See a doctor and explain to them you want to work out as soon as possible and if they tell you to give it a rest for a month or something and you know you won't, tell them you won't. They may react to this badly, but I ended up getting an "in that case..." answer. Also search for "shoulder instability" on Google. Spend, but don't waste, time trying some of the exercises you find. A TheraBand is a good thing to have, another good reason to go to the doctor. |

Get it checked......pu tyour ego aside and go see someone. HE can mees up your ligamnets like a fellow cheerleader of mine did, and it would pop in and out of place once or twice a month. He had surgery on it, it still gives him trouble. All cause he wouldn't see a doc.-------------- The following, has not be approved by the FDA or FT, it was not meant to diagnose, treat,or prevent any diease(s) Please consult a moderator or doctor before using any of the suggestions or comments. |

My suggestion is to consult at least 2 different doctors and see what they tell you...a lot of doctors needlessly suggest surgery...
Try taking a week away from gym and giving it a complete rest...although no pain doesn't mean it's fine...it may not be as bad as to require surgery...

Guys, you're answering a 9 month old post.-------------- Sometimes I lie awake at night and wonder where have I gone wrong? Then I hear a voice say this is gonna take longer than one night. Charlie

i got my right soldier dislocated 5 or 6 times..doc adviced me to lift small weights to strengthen it but never worked. it is very painful by the time it dislocates for the 3rd and more occasions. but hey im living with it..i cant jerk my right arm too hard, like throwing a ball very hard..so i wont try anything like that. but i do lift weights. it has no effect so far. but be careful when you lift.
